Join us for our lunch meeting next week in building 1451, room 331. Vojtěch Kase, post.doc. at the Department of History, will present on the following topic:
In this talk, I introduce a text-mining analysis of a corpus of ancient Greek texts, covering a period from 8th BC to 4th CE and containing approx. 15 million words. I use this method to explore or even test several hypotheses concerning cultural evolution of religion. In particular, I focus on diachronic changes in association strength between certain words from religious and moral domain. Finally, I analyse these changes in respect to the dynamics in social complexity and economic prosperity.
